Trip Pages

January 23, 2010 : Native Dog Flat

Campground with numerous odonata at the start of the Buchan River. Along the Buchan River I also saw a darner that I was unable to identify.

January 23, 2010 : Cowombat Track Flat

Flat beside road was searched for orchids and I also recorded some common odonata.

January 23, 2010 : Playgrounds

Searched the plains and nearby bogs in the afternoon for orchids and odonata. This primarily featues a large, long open are, which includes an artificial dam, as well as some sphagnum seepages.

January 24, 2010 : Square Flat

Small alpine flat/bog.

January 24, 2010 : Rocky Plains West

Part of a large, boggy plain.

January 24, 2010 : Ramshorn Track Plain

Open area on slope with larger boggy area at bottom but seriously damaged by brumbies.

January 25, 2010 : Omeo

Some common odonata at Lingstone Creek just north of Omea, a small, rocky creek through hilly farmland.

January 25, 2010 : Anglers Rest

A few common odonata spotted by rocky rivers around Anglers Rest.

January 25, 2010 : Mitta Mitta River

A nice, rocky river in which I walked around in a bit. This is at the Bundara Picnic Area just north of Anglers Rest. Saw a few river-type darners here.

January 25, 2010 : Bogong High Plains

Visited several interesting sites on the Bogong High Plains, most of the time was spent at the start of Cope Hut Track where I found quite a few Austroaeschna flavomaculata , a new dragonfly species for me.

January 26, 2010 : Cresta Valley, Mt Buffalo

Some boggy creeks around Cresta Valley and a short way along south Buffalo Track.

January 26, 2010 : Lake Catani

Alpine lake on Mt Buffalo

January 26, 2010 : Eurobin Falls

Cascading waterfall near the entrance to Mt Buffalo. Saw some lizards and a few odonata but one darner along the track I saw for a while only in flight and couldn't ID it.

January 27, 2010 : Gooram Falls

Stopped off at this reserve on the way home and saw some fairly common odonata.
