The Budgies of Boulia - A Companion Bird Tour
September 5, 2011
A short trip to inland north west Queensland to look at the birds the group keep as pets at home, in their natural habitat.
We flew from Cairns to Mt Isa and then drove over to Boulia.
It was a short trip to an inland area of north west Queensland to see budgerigars and other birds kept as pets, in the wild.
We spent 4 days in Boulia. Budgerigars were everywhere but with a lot of surface water still available, they were widely spread about and not concentrated around waterholes so we couldn't get the enormous flocks like we had last year.
There were still many flowers and all sorts of wildlife was active. We saw 8 families of Emus, many Red Kangaroos, more than 50 Bearded Dragons.

Very nice work Phil, I think you've really captured some of the feel of the outback there!
