The Spit Nature Reserve

A small nature reserve accessible only by permit from Melbourne Water. It comprises dense saltmarsh overlooking a estuary and spit. It's one of the places to look for the critically endangered Orange-bellied Parrot and birds like Fairy Tern.

Getting There

Access is by permit only from Melbourne Water. This gives you entry to the tracks around the ponds. Entry to the reserve itself is prohibited without a special permit from the Department of Sustainability and Environment. The reserve is located at the end of Pt Wilson Road near Werribee.
